Missy’s Biography
Missy’s joined the board in August of 2025 but her journey with Babies & Beyond began in 1982 when she joined the very first group of phone volunteers for the newly established Pregnancy Helpline. From the beginning—and still today—her heart has been to support all women, especially those facing unexpected challenges and in need of extra help.
As a young single parent herself, Missy understands firsthand the struggles that many of the families we serve experience in managing day-to-day responsibilities. In 2016, Missy retired as a Senior Development Program Specialist from the UW Foundation/Medical Advancement Group. Two years later, she co-founded One Accord for Veterans, a volunteer group that successfully organized three large fundraising events over four years to support local veterans.
In January 2024, after seeing a news story about Babies & Beyond’s need for volunteers, Missy arranged a tour for herself and a friend. Shortly after, on February 1, 2024, the two began volunteering together twice a month.
Missy and her husband, Scott Boyd, were married in 1986. Scott continues to work full-time and also volunteers at Babies & Beyond. Together, they cherish their family, including their three adult granddaughters, though they deeply grieve the loss of Missy’s only child, Nickole, who passed away in 2017. Their home is kept lively by the antics of their two rescued German Shepherds.
Missy considers it a blessing to be part of a life-affirming nonprofit community and is humbled to serve as a member of the Babies & Beyond Board.
